Ebla - E.S. Posthumus

Ebla by E.S. Posthumus

E.S = Experimental Sounds, Posthumus = all things past; is fromed by 2 brothers Helmut and Franz Vonlichten. All they do, is make great music like this. Their music has been used by many movie trailers due to their cinematic/dramatic style. To keep in the posthumus theme, all their songs in the album are named after old cities.

Grand Theft Auto to be banned?

Recently in the papers, some guy from some consumer association from Penang wrote in to say that Malaysia should ban Grand Theft Auto. According to him, GTA encourages violence, people killing people for the fun of it; degrades moral so people who played the game have the urge to have more sex. Apparently, one murder case in Thailand was linked to the game and in the writer's eyes, all should be well if the game is to be banned in this country. Basically is about "BAN THIS FILTH!!!" kind of thing. Its funny when they complain about the game but never played it themselves. Its so annoying when they start preaching about it when they never ever touched the game.

But I am sorry, I played GTA before and I thought it was kinda fun and entertaining. I certainly did not go killing people i do not like. Nor did I not go fuck fornicate around after playing the game. Best part is, I know other people who play the game and its still the same old sane person and definately not mental.

I seriously wonder why video games are taking the heat, of course the TV got hit first but i digress. If video games are to be banned if they contain violence/some sex that would literally mean most of the games out there, heck the only games on the market at that time will be children games... and thats not a rosy future to look forward to.

Other than that, think about it, piracy is already rampant, banning games is not a way to solve that problem either, it is going to drive piracy higher. At that time, whatever that happens, do not blame the consumers for using Bittorrent and RapidShare and some free games website (you get the idea) to download the those banned games. Them (Banners?) are the one to blame.

Since we are talking about banning video games, let's see might as wells ban them cigarettes, they cause health problems, some people who smoke' em have the delusion of coolness, why not ban them too? I am already enjoying playing this banning game. Lets ban the internet, since its addictive and a perfect waste of some peoples time like mine or maybe because it has tonnes of pornography that destroys a person moral, that will save the world from global warming since people have no reason to turn on the PC and oh, it will oh-so-save-people's-moral. Hmm let's see, Might as well ban' em movies since some of the involve violence and sex amongst other vices. I could go on but for your sanity and mine, better not.

Beijing Olympics 2008

They did not only outdo previous hosts, they even outdid themselves for their opening night. Breathtaking, visual, beautiful, Beijing made Athens look like they did not try hard enough for theirs 4 years ago.

So pretty, its almost hard not to burst into tears...

Adrian on solving problems part 2

Sent my phone to the shop today, waited (again) almost an hour for the technician to cross check the IMEI numbers in his database. In the end, both IMEI from the phone and the board itself are in the database but they cannot determine the cause of the problems. So they decided to send it back to the manufacturer and see whats what. Its a 2 week thing and I am already suffering from withdrawel symptoms... Being used to speed and going back to my old(er) E398 is just plain torture cause its so slow... but oh well, better than nothing.

Fingers crossed.

Adrian on solving problems. Part 1

Quite recently, I noticed that when i run java programs on my phone, that program cannot connect to the internet. The best part is, i downloaded that program from my phone using the built-in Opera web browser. Tried the the web (PC) but to no avail, no solution found.

So made a call to Motorola in KL to check on the problem, the guy was frankly not very helpful as it was a third party software, he did some basic troubleshooting though, in the end, pooh poohed me to call Maxis.

Called maxis, guy was helpful (relatively) and nice. Suggested that it may be a corrupt download and I should download it again from their WAP portal. Did that and still Opera Mini did not work, so he suggested that i go back to the shop where i bought the phone from.

Went to the shop the next day, those cocky/a**holes/bastards were to distracted to help because they were too busy trying to sell me Celcom3G/Unlimited Package crap. First he blamed Maxis, so he swapped my SIM for a Celcom one, Unlimited Data package obviously, and In-Your-Face-Smugness it did not work. According to him, my phone is original, Motorola will recognize the phone IF I bring it to them but more on this later. Anyways, he decided to try a maxis SIM the latest one according to him 256k SIM, still did not work. So he suggested me to go to Maxis Center in Mahkota Parade to get it checked, possible a network related problem.

So the next day, went to Maxis. Waited almost an hour for them to finish troubleshooting. According to them, its not their problem. They tried it on a Nokia at first, had the same problem as my phone, after that he came to me said that its my phone thats having the problem. So I asked about the Nokia, according to him, it works, and he did not show it to me... For all I know, he can't solve it and just made that last bit up. In the end, suggested I went to the Motorola dealer.

Went one floor up to the shop, the guy behind the counter said his technician went to eat and I should come back an hour later... An hour later, talked to him, he tried, did not work, he had no idea what was wrong and suggested I try the Motorola Service Center... According to him, my phone is an AP set and it will cost an astounding RM120 for labour charges itself, compared to the cheap 20bucks for an orignal set. So I gave up, went back to discuss with my aunt that bought the phone for me.

At that time, i was fuming, steam practically venting from any concievible opening retold the story to her. Then I had a sudden thought, check the IMEI to see it fits. Lol and behold, its does not... more salt to wound... made up my mind, they guy in the shop is SO dead... THIS IS SPARTA WAR!!!

Don't get me wrong, I love my V6 to bits. It is a very nice phone to use in reality. And it has trick up its sleeves that the others lack. Namely style and exclutivity.

I like the the design language, that glass front facia with hidden touch sensitive music buttons. I like that Soft Touch rubber feel even the phone is made of metal. Compared to those cheaper feel, made of plastic competitors this feels solid, something you can drop it and it survives. I like the metal keypad. Its a phone that attracts me. I like the slimness and how they managed to stuff quite a number of things into its slim casing.

I like the fact that most people would rather buy a Sony Erricsson or a Nokia. Actually I ahve considered these 2 before getting my V6. Its nice to know that I am holding a phone that less people has. For example, in my class alone, the amount of students using the same phone, Nokia or SE number in the hundreds, its too common, when you flash your phone, everybody has the same one, it hurts. The problem lies in the amount of Ah Bengs and Ah Lians using SE phones, and all the phones look the same. On the other hand, most Nokias are desperately ugly and stupidly bulky. And they have that fussy Symbian OS that tries to be smart but arent at times.

It may not be the most feature packed phone but its the phone that i would really love to own.

Those guys in the phone shop are so dead tomorrow...
Update after screwing up the guy.
